How to do an ollie? and what is this?

so interesting question but what is this about: today I bought a fingerboard ๐Ÿ˜‰ ever tried that, my seven year old was keen on it, so what can you do with that thing ??? going online and using cooliris to search for videos on youtube with fingerboard so you find countless videos of 6-18 year olds doing tricks with their fingerboards, they even create lectures about how to do it? create nice quality movies with slow mo and and stuff.

So did I learn to do an ollie? In any case they learned a lot beside doing an ollie ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ever listened to a musical piece for 639 years ;-)

In Halberstadt in Germany a piece of John Cage is performed at the moment. The piece is called ORGAN2/ASLSP (as slow as possible). The duration of the overall performance will be 639 years! Very interesting idea, so generations can talk over the piece and talk to each other. We (our generation could today listen to the 6th change in sound in the masterpiece. Unfortunately I will not be able to be there. Probably for the 7th change. ๐Ÿ˜‰

EduMedia 2008

This week I have been talking at EduMedia Conference in Salzburg. I have been invited to give a keynote and talked about changes in information technology for learning, changed usage patterns when moving from web1.0 to web2.0. One of the interesting things is how freely people give away personal data today while it was one of the main topics in user modelling research how to acquire user information build personal profiles and use that for adaptation trying to avoid the coldstart problem ;-).

I met several very interesting and inspiring people including Jay Cross, Steve Wheeler, Graham Atwell and also participated in a interesting TenCompetence session about self-organized learning with interesting contributions.

Furthermore I met a former colleague Andreas Auwaerter beeing really active in podcasting for education, nice thing!

I robot you robot ?

I just came across a call for participation for:

Program 1st International Conference on Human Robot Personal Relationship

interesting program. I have not been aware of how far the discussion in this area already go but check out agenda talks like:

  • Me Robot, You Jane (Prof.dr. Sally Wyatt, Maastricht University, The Netherlands)
  • Improving Human-to-Human Relationships through the Use of Personal Robotics (Mrs. J. Pransky, Kenwood, USA (Video-conference)

So am I blogging or is it my robot ๐Ÿ˜‰
